The papers presented at this workshop are organized so as to reflect the importance of policy, programmes and economics on a national level as well as the increasing importance of the regional research institutes in adaptive research. The volume contains papers on national policy and programme issues. A section on economics includes national demand and production issues together with case studies on marketing and labour use, while a section on soybean support programmes highlights co-operative research on soybean. Technical factors in production highlight upstream research on variability, cropping systems, climatic aspects, soils, pests management, and breeding. Regional research and development includes contributions obtained from regional research centres covering production related issues in East Java, West Java, Sulawesi, and Sumatra. The volume provides a complete and up-to-date overview of soybean development in Indonesia.
